Bangkok 23 - 26 April 2008

Just to share some random pictures taken during my Bangkok trip not too long ago.

Stayed in Samran Place Hotel. The rooms are clean and serves delicious a la carte breakfasts. There are also some food stalls nearby (Ratchatchewi BTS station) and one of them serves pretty good Pad Thai.

Streets of Chinatown, also known as Yaowarat by the locals. The high arch in the second picture below is the landmark.

MBK shopping mall's food court.Plenty of selections to choose from for hungry patrons. Mango sticky rice is one of the best desserts served here.

Most of the restaurants/stalls that sells tomyum are good but I just love the tomyum meehoon served at Suan Lum Night Bazzar's food court because coconut milk is added and it brings out the distinctive taste. Yummy :D

Panoramic view before, during and after sunset of The Grand Palace and Wat Arun.

The snake farm. It is known to be the largest producer of anti-venom serums in Asia. I can't remember how much I paid for the entrance fee but the show was definitely an eye opener for me.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. This place is no longer worth visiting as the amount of tourists are more than the locals and there's nothing much to look at. Souvenirs are expensive and I think the only thing that is worth buying are the fruits.

Chatuchak market. This place is claimed to be the largest outdoor market in Asia (or the whole wide world?) boasting over thousands of stalls. Gosh, this place is so hot and crowded! Everything can be found here even pets and things are cheaper here compared to the floating market.

For those who are interested in having a holiday at Bangkok, I would recommend to go between November - February, which is the peak season when it is less humid. Drinking water is easily available at convenient stores all over Bangkok especially town areas and they're generally cheap. Booking a tour with local agency can be done at your hotel or Khao San road but planning the itinerary yourself can save you more since public transportations are available such as trains, buses and cabs.
